Vegging in Northridge

I am on a vacay in my own city...from Studio City Apartment to what seems like a half acre in Northridge.  Pool in the flats house sitting and hanging with my dear friends three dogs.

The thing is I don't drive, I get around Studio City by walking.  Almost everything I need is in walking distance.  If not, I am a block from 4 bus lines; plus I have a couple of really awesome friends that will help me trek to get the heavy stuff.  My Peeps aren't out here at least I don't know if anyone is out here!

Studio City Moorpark Meeting is an hour and 30 minutes from where I am staying...and having major withdrawal from my Tribe.

I have been working on 2 projects while I am isolated in this lovely conclave of upper middle class homes, though not as hard or as diligently as I had hoped when I set up my laptop. The neighbors are lovely, I met one while walking around the 1 mile around block. He has lived in the same house next door to where I am staying for over 20 years with his wife.  He didn't mention kids but told me that the walk I was doing was a full mile and that his wife also walked it everyday.I am buried enveloped in a quiet neighborhood full of people that grew up in the houses they took over from their parents.

Another Sunday

Sunday night and I am looking out over the beautiful pool in the backyard and the trees.  It has cooled down and I have been throwing tennis balls for the dogs. I am house sitting and and watching 3 dogs for  dear dear friends.  I like dogs and love these 3 a lot and they aren't always easy to like....
They bark. They bark a lot.  At each other.  At nothing. At the people walking by the front of the house.  At the dogs next door who bark back and leap up so I can see their heads on the other side of the 6 foot wall.  They are German Sheppards "our dogs" are small but mighty, they think!
At the television... they used to just bark at other dogs but seem to have added chickens and horses to screen animals requiring their attention.... only one used to do this but all three now join in the "fun" making it impossible to for me enjoy watching TV.  I never know when an animal will sneak in on a commercial on what I think is an "animal free" program.
I find the end of the night when they have had their last patrol of the large back yard....barking and carrying on and I can finally wrangle them all into the house a relief. I get ready for bed to watch TV or read and the 3 come piling into bed with me... once they each find their spot, after their doggie squabbling who get where it is peaceful and it gets quiet, the dogs/kids are happy.  And I remember the joy they bring and why I love them so.....

I do worry about the neighbors having to listen to their barking.  My friends recently moved to this new house and I am worrying about the neighbors and the barking dogs.

But right now all if good in the world... we are snuggled in watching whatever is on the television.....
Just pray... NOT animals....
